More tests after Jackson autopsy

Determining the cause of Michael Jackson's death could take several weeks, a coroner has said, as fans continued to pay tribute to the singer.
An autopsy had been conducted but further tests were required that could take up to six weeks, the coroner said.
But he said foul play and trauma had been ruled out in the death of Jackson, who died on Thursday at the age of 50.
Entertainers and world leaders have all been paying tribute to the deceased star.
Singers Madonna and Justin Timberlake praised his talent, while a spokesman for Barack Obama said that the US president saw Jackson as a "music icon".
'Additional testing'
Los Angeles County coroner's spokesman Craig Harvey said police had put a security hold on Jackson's case, limiting the amount of information that can be released.
LA County coroner's office statement following the autopsy
He said a three-hour autopsy had been held but the cause of death had been deferred.
"It means that the medical examiner ordered additional testing such as toxicology and other studies," Mr Harvey said.
The tests would take between four to six weeks, at which point he anticipated being able to close the case, he said.
Jackson, who had a history of health problems, collapsed at his Los Angeles home around midday on Thursday.
A recording of the telephone call made to emergency services has been released, in which the caller said Jackson was unconscious and had stopped breathing.
His personal doctor - who witnessed his collapse - was trying to revive him, the caller said.

The singer was pronounced dead two hours later at the UCLA medical centre. Jackson's brother, Jermaine, said he was believed to have suffered a cardiac arrest.
Family lawyer Brian Oxman told US TV that he had been concerned about the star's use of pain relief medication.
He told ABC's Good Morning America programme that Jackson took prescription pain relief for injuries sustained earlier in his career.
"It caused him great pain. He just didn't like to feel such discomfort. He started taking pain medication. It became part of his life," he said.
A spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department said investigators had spoken to Jackson's personal doctor briefly on Thursday, but they wanted to speak to him again.
Police also said a car owned by a doctor had been towed away from Jackson's home.
A spokeswoman said the doctor was not under criminal investigation, but said the car could contain "medications or other evidence that may assist the coroner in determining the cause of death".
The star had been due to stage 50 concerts at the O2 arena in London, beginning on 13 July.
Across the world, people have been voicing shock and disbelief at the news of his death. In Hollywood, thousands of people filed past his star on the Walk of Fame.
A White House spokesman said US President Barack Obama considered Jackson a spectacular performer, but said he felt parts of his life were "sad and tragic".
Former Beatle Paul McCartney described Jackson as a massively talented boy-man with a gentle soul.
Biggest seller
Jackson began his career as a child in family group The Jackson 5.
He went on to achieve global fame as a solo artist with smash hits such as Billie Jean and Bad.
Thriller, released in 1982, is the biggest-selling album of all time, shifting 65m copies, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

He scored seven UK number ones as a solo artist and won a total of 13 Grammy awards.
"For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words," said Quincy Jones, who produced Thriller, Bad and Off The Wall.
"He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I've lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him."
Jackson fans react to news of his death
The singer had been dogged by controversy and money trouble in recent years, becoming a virtual recluse.
He was arrested in 2003 on charges of molesting a 14-year-old boy, but was found not guilty following a five-month trial.
The star had three children, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince Michael Jackson II.
Jackson's former wife Debbie Rowe is the mother of two of the children, and there is already speculation about who will gain custody of them.
He is survived by his mother, Katherine, father, Joseph and eight siblings - including Janet, Randy, Jermaine and La Toya Jackson.

Mariah to tread the boards in London

Mariah Carey is to star in a London stage show.
The 'Obsessed’ singer has reportedly landed a £15,000-a-week contract to appear in an unnamed production in London’s West End theatre district from next spring.A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper:

'Mariah’s done a bit of acting in her time but nothing on this scale.'She was hugely flattered to have been asked and is determined to nail the part.

She is pretty confident in her own abilities.'And although there has been talk of musicals, Mariah has always wanted to star in a play so this really is a dream come true.'This is not the first time Mariah has been linked with a British theatre role.

In 2005, it was reported she was house-hunting in the UK to find a base while she was appearing in a musical version of 'The Prince And The Showgirl' but the role never materialised.

The following year, Mariah revealed plans to create a Christmas musical using tracks from her 1994 album 'Merry Christmas'.

The script was set to be penned by 'High School Musical' writer Peter Barsocchini. It was claimed in 2008 that the 39-year-old star’s life story is to be made into a musical.

A source said: "A huge, huge Broadway producer is interested in Mariah's story and it's in discussions.'

Coke Studio Great Show In Pakistan

Music & Entertainment is a major and perhaps the most popular source, Pakistan has, to connect itself with the outside world. Major T.V. shows, Designers, Drama Serials, Music Celebs etc. have made their way through the roads of success in the past few years. Thus, exploring and making places in hearts, round the globe.
One such attempt was made last year, when a popular show named THE COKE STUDIO, made a breakthrough appearance on our television screens. Coke Studio was a unique introduction; to bring all major Pakistani artists under one roof and perform live resultantly, touching billions of hearts right away. Every episode was an immense hit for the fact that live performances are very rare in Pakistan and this idea had really boosted the young spirit to watch every bit of it.
Rohail Hayat , the man behind this great idea has put forward a marvelous attempt to promote Pakistani music, knitting together , folk music and pop artists along with a wide range of instruments and background singers, indeed creating a history altogether.
The first season of Coke Studio gave some beautiful fusion of rock artists with folk legends, examples being Ali Azmat & Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, singing Garaj Baras with an eastern touch. Ali Zafar &Tuffail Ahmed performing Allah Hoo and the famous Abida Parveen sprinkling in her traditional innocence. Yet, the feel was created by the men at dholaks, guitars, drums, matkas and a series of other instruments so hats off to the entire team of musicians.
The history creating popularity and approbation of season 1 has motivated the team to ignite the passion of music, yet again in the studio, this summer. This season is featuring some of the magnificent singing stars including; Ali Zafar, Noori, Josh, Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan, Strings, Zeb & Haniya etc. In addition, Season 2 introduces a different band of musicians with all new innovative series of episodes.
The television promos witnessed on air are giving a glimpse of the most popular rock show and June 14th 2009, is the day, for the party to begin. Unfortunately, the launch of the 2nd season had some major blunders & didn’t convey the essence of the project; I’m still looking forward to this great show because whatever the drawbacks, season 1 had rocked completely.
It has to be admitted that Rohail Hayat’s passion and Coke’s backup has created a new vision where corporations are joining hands with the entertainment industry, providing a perfect source of brand popularity. As Coke plans to revitalize itself from just a soft drink brand to brand of hearts, I think Coke Studio is an ideal collaboration for the attainment of their goal.
Today human brains have turned into dull working machines filled with exhausting work, boring TV shows and news with the tarka of tension in them. So Coke is providing an opportunity for all you guys to sit back grab a coke and watch, The Coke Studio Season 2 where folk would be meeting pop, giving us some extravagant piece of entertainment. Hope this season brings more touchy performances that may live in the hearts of people, for years to come. Let Coke happiness & thrilling music, rule your mind, this year…!!

Salman Ahmed, the lead singer of the popular Pakistani band Junoon

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Thousands of civilians trapped in Pakistan’s northwest Frontier Province, where the military is pounding Taliban insurgents, face ‘humanitarian catastrophe’ unless help reaches them soon, the New York-based Human Rights Watch said late last month. “The government cannot allow the local population to remain trapped without food, clean water and medicine as a tactic to defeat the Taliban,” said Brad Adams, the group’s Asia director. Reports of civilians killed in the crossfire continued to flood in, the group said, as people desperately try to find food and water for their families, or try and escape the aerial and ground bombardments.

Keynote speaker Salman Ahmed, the lead singer of the popular Pakistani band Junoon, passionately addressed the sea of supporters, particularly the youth. “I want all the young people out here today to at least take away one thing from this rally,” he said. “As Pakistani Americans, we need to make a sacrifice for our country and our people back home. Educate yourselves and your friends about the situation and encourage people to support through donations. With these efforts, we will be on our way to making Pakistan a safe and peaceful country.”The Government of Pakistan has established a Prime Minister’s Special Fund for victims and the Consulate General of Pakistan in Los Angeles has opened a universal bank account to collect donations. The military launched its operation in the districts of Lower Dir on April 26, Buner on April 28 and Swat on May 8, after Taliban fighters advanced to within 100 kilometers (about 62 miles) of Islamabad.
